Johnnie Manuel and Linda Payne were married February 10,1962 in Linthieum, Maryland. They lived in Warrenton, VA for several years. John served in the National Guard and worked at Virginia Power in Warrenton. In 1967 they had a home built to Broad Run, VA on property given to them by John's family. Their 3 children were born whil living in Broad Run. John and Lin were very active in Youth sports; John coaching and Lin providing the taxi service. Together they headed up the Warrenton Youth Soccer League for many years. In 1981 Virginia Power promoted John to Line Forman in the Woodstock office.The Family moved in July of 1981 9after the baseball all stars were over) and are residing in Woodstock 5oeqy. John had been very active in town politics, serving either on the Planning Commission or Town Council for 26 years.
John is now retired and enjoying his time at home. Lin is very active in the Auxiliary of the local hospital serving on the Boar. Sh also is one of the managers of the hospital gift shop.
Visits to the children and grandchildren, and family coming home for visits are difinitely the highlights of retirement. Brent Manuel, the Oldest son, is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond and is Assistant Town Manager and Planner for the town of Woodstock. Scott lives in Riverbend, NY and is a chemist for the County of Suffolk. Scott has a degree in the sciences from Dowell University. He has two sons, Zachary, 10 and Christian who is 5 years old. Tricia is a graduate of Old Dominion University in Norfolrk with a masters degree in Education. She married Wes Irvin on September 11, 1999 and currently lives in Annapolis, Maryland. Trish and Wes have 2 children, Ashby wo is 5 years old and Jack who just turned 3.
